About

Hi, I’m Roselyn Romero!

I am currently a freelance journalist and blogger based in Oakland, California. I graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2022 with a bachelor of science in journalism and minors in Spanish, ethnic studies, and women’s and gender studies.

Previously, I was an Investigative Unit intern at NBC Bay Area and the inaugural Ida B. Wells Society for Investigative Reporting intern for the Global Investigations team of The Associated Press. Before those internships, I was the senior content producer at KSBY-TV, the NBC-affiliate local news station serving San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties; a reporter and assistant news editor at Cal Poly’s Mustang News; and the communications coordinator for WITH US Center for Bystander Intervention.

I have experience reporting on breaking news, writing investigative and enterprise stories, creating content for social media platforms, copywriting and copyediting for non-profit organizations, and editing videos. You can find a sample of my work here.

Outside the newsroom, you can find me powerlifting at the gym, hiking, reading books, watching “Jeopardy!” with my boyfriend, and religiously playing The New York Times’ Wordle and Spelling Bee games.

If you’re interested in contacting me for personal or business inquiries, feel free to do so on my Contact page.

Thank you for stopping by!
